Kennith L. Peterson

Kennith L. Peterson attended Pepperdine University Law School, Malibu, California where he received his Juris Doctorate Degree in 1982 and was admitted to the California State Bar in 1983. Mr. Peterson obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree as well as a Master of Arts Degree from California State University, Sacramento. He is an approved Arbitrator for the Orange County Superior Court. He was appointed on September 28, 1999 as Special Deputy Attorney General for the State of Idaho for the purpose of representing the State of Idaho, State Insurance Fund in Tom Miller Roofing, Inc v. Acceptance Companies, OCSC Case No. 808565.

Mr. Peterson has represented numerous insurance companies as well as self-insured entities in the defense of both workers’ compensation claims and personal injury claims. Prior to starting his own practice in April of 1991, Mr. Peterson was a partner with the Law Offices of Mercer and Zinder. During his employment with Mercer and Zinder, along with his insurance defense practice and workers’ compensation defense practice, Mr. Peterson pursued various personal injury claims on behalf of clients which included a large successful personal injury settlement against Disneyland.

Since opening his own office in April of 1991, Mr. Peterson has successfully brought suit in numerous medical malpractice claims, including claims for wrongful death. He has pursued numerous personal injury claims on behalf of individuals injured from automobile accidents, including a successful claim for wrongful death related to auto vs. pedestrian. He has successfully brought claims against foreign manufacturers of dangerous industrial equipment, including companies from Taiwan and Italy. While in college, Mr. Peterson worked extensively as a heavy duty mechanic. This training has proven to be of great assistance to Mr. Peterson in prosecuting injuries sustained by individuals operating dangerous equipment and machinery. Mr. Peterson is an inventor and has two patents to his credit.

Mr. Peterson has considerable understanding and knowledge of the medical components of personal injury claims, having dealt with numerous personal injury claims in the past as well as workers’ compensation claims. Over his career he has taken hundreds of depositions of medical doctors, including psychologists and other medical providers.

Mr. Peterson is a member of the Orange County Bar Association and the Los Angeles County Bar Association. He is admitted to practice before all courts in the State of California, as well as the United States District Courts for the Central and Southern Districts of California.

Very active in his community, Mr. Peterson has managed and coached numerous soccer, basketball and baseball teams since 1997. Mr. Peterson has contributed to the various leagues as a sponsor of each team that he has managed or coached, as well as the contributing to the local high school teams. He served as Cub Master for Pack 706 in Placentia from 1996 – 2003. He has four children and has lived in Yorba Linda since August of 1994.

Background:

Ken was born in Northern California where he was raised on a cattle ranch
Moved to McBride, British Columbia, Canada where his family continued with ranching
Attended McBride Secondary School
Elected Student Body President in the 12th grade
While in Canada, in addition to ranching, Ken drove a logging truck, worked as a timber faller, and drove heavy equipment
Received high school diploma from McBride Senior Secondary School
Went on to attend Shasta College, Sacramento State University, and Pepperdine University Law School
Admitted to the California State Bar in 1983
Went to work for Stockwell, Morris, Anderson, & Harris as a Worker’s Compensation Defense Attorney
Later became a partner at Mercer & Zinder
Became an instructor for the Insurance Educational Association
Formed the Law Offices of Kennith L. Peterson in 1991
In 1996 he bought what was then the Tarbell Reality building at 949 E. Yorba Linda Blvd, Placentia, CA
In 2008 Ken restructured his firm to focus on Personal Injury
